Berikut Teks Sambutan Wakil Menteri Agama Syaiful Rahmat Dasuki selengkapnya:
Welcome to the city of Bandung, a historic city where the 1955 Asia Africa Conference was firstly conducted.
In this ever-evolving world, scholars have acknowledged the significant role of religion in shaping the public sphere and influencing public policy. While some remain skeptical about the positive contributions of religion, looking at the history of religious wars and power struggles, I have a firm believe that religion has transformative power in our life, locally and globally.
This belief has led us to R20, a landmark event under Indonesia’s G20 Presidency. The main purpose of R20 was to inspire leaders to stop viewing religion as a problem, but to see it as part of the solution. Today, religion is being part of world’s problem because some parties have manipulated religion to serve their own interests. It is therefore, in the hands of the leaders like all of us, we should facilitate positive dialogues to rectify global issues related to religions.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Post the Arab Spring, some Middle Eastern countries continued to deal with the impact of conflicts. It began with protests in Tunisia and spilled over into countries like Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, culminating in the Saudi Arabia-Yemen war. It then raises a question – where is religion situated amidst these conflicts?
Today, as we gather in the historic Merdeka Building, we recall the Asia-Africa Conference of 1955, a momentous event that promoted Asian-African economic and cultural cooperation and fought colonialism. In these changing times, religion, culture, and solidarity among nations are the driving forces to achieve world peace, especially amidst ongoing conflicts.
My respected colleagues,
This Conference on Religious Moderation in Asia, Africa, and Latin America is far more than just an academic gathering. It is a powerful reminder of the enduring spirit of solidarity that binds the nations of Asia and Latin America together.
This spirit is a historical legacy of the Asia Africa Conference, should inspire us to foster collaboration and solidarity today. Together we are more powerful to build our nations and build the world peace.
By propagating Asia Africa Conference core values of equality, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence, we can fortify and promote a culture of solidarity. This mindset, seeing the past as our memory and the future as our hope, needs to be nurtured today more than ever.
Esteemed audience,
In light of recent conflicts, we extend an invitation to all leaders worldwide. We invite you to present a resurgence of faith as a global solution towards achieving world peace. This resurgence is characterized by religious tolerance and moderation, serving as a beacon to individuals and nations worldwide, guiding us towards moderation and away from extremism.
Religious moderation is being our national program, as a way to promote tolerance and eliminate extremism. Indonesia, with its rich diversity of religions and beliefs, considers this diversity a divine gift.
While this diversity can give rise to positive religious practices, it can also present challenges, including the rise of extreme releigious viewpoints and practices, subjective truth claims, and the potential for conflicts driven by economic and political interests.
This is where the significance of religious moderation comes into play. It serves as a bridge between religious fervor and national commitment. In Indonesia, our religion is deeply intertwined with our identity as Indonesians and vice versa.
